Demartini M. Perception of China in selected countries of Latin America: Bachelor Thesis. Brno: Mendel University. Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, 2017. Advisor: Mgr. Ing. Richard Turcsányi, Ph.D. The paper deals with the perception of China in selected Latin American countries. The theoretical part summarizes the development of Latin American relations with China on the history background and their current state. It also includes and explains the theoretical basis of work - Chinese foreign policy and soft-power concept. The next part describes methodology of selecting three countries based on political, economic and social factors. The practical part includes individual case studies of Nicaragua, Peru and Venezuela and its perception of China. The aim is to find out how the selected Latin American states perceive China and try to explain this finding by presenting facts that may support or shape such perceptions.

This bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of oil industry and its impact on economic but also political situation in the country. This issue is inherently connected with the theory of resource curse, which is analyzed from both political and economic points of view. The next part focuses on the history of Venezuela, which is closely interconnected with and influenced by the oil industry in the last century. The concluding section inquires into the significant decline of oil industry during the regime of Nicolás Maduro and contains the data, which are used as a base for an analysis of political and economic situation in Venezuela.
The Reprezentation of Selected Socialist and Communist Countries in the Czech Press in 2010

Theme of this diploma work are news related to selected socialist and communist countries in the Czech press. Characteristic works are the specifics of media countries with the socialist (or communist) government in the Czech press. Theoretical work is beyond theory Frankfurt and Birmingham schools. The basis of the analysis work will stereotypes concerning the socialist and communist countries, the Czech news media contents. The findings will then be the basis for in-depth interviews with the news media workers and the staff representative bodies of the countries. The goal is to reveal the motives and the construction of stereotypes at the production of media content.
Czechoslovak - Venezuelan Relations in the years 1945 - 1968

This work is an analysis of a topic that until now has been practically no research, the relations of Czechoslovakia and Venezuela in the years 1945 - 1968, while this work focuses attention on diplomatic and economic relations, it also considers the influence of domestic politics in these countries, explaining the context of these international relations, specifically of the United States, Soviet union and Cuba. The thesis is primarily based on material from the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Czech Republic and also the National Archive of the Czech Republic. Diplomatic relations between these countries were established in 1929, after the Munich Agreement of 1938, the embassy of Czechoslovakia in Caracas was closed. After World War II. economic relations were re-established. This was really important because the commercial interest of Czechoslovakia helped to establish the diplomatic relations. Diplomatic relations were discontinued by Venezuela in 1952 during the dictatorship of general Marcus Pérez Jiménez. When the dictator was overthrown in 1958, diplomatic relations were gradually re-established, once more through economic relations and finally established in 1968. Venezuela and Cuba: The Comparison of the Regimes and the Mutual Relations

This Bachelor thesis is focused on the comparation of current political regimes in Venezuela and Cuba and on their mutual relations. In the comparation there is a specific attention paid to several chosen aspects that are key for the character of the regimes. These aspects are the causes and circumstances of the regimes' establishments, the personalities of their main leaders, the formation of the regimes during the first years in office, main political events and the official ideologies, foreign policies and their international positions and last but not least the economic situation of both countries. The contents of the thesis is divided into four main sections. The first section contains a thorough analysis of the regime in Venezuela that has existed from the year 1999 and also includes a short analysis of the events that lead to its establishment. The second section analyses the situation in Cuba since Fidel Castro came to power and it also pays a short attention to the circumstances that preceded that. The third extensive part analyses relations between Venezuela and Cuba since the year 1999 and it also summarizes the relations between these states from the beginning of Fidel Castro's government in 1958 to the year 1999. The Master's thesis Political System of Venezuela after 1999: From Democracy to Authoritarism? deals with the functional analysis of the contemporary political system of Venezuela. It includes a very complex overview of the crucial legal changes and political events that have shaped the system since 1999. The main constitutional institutions as well as the activities of the civil society are examined from the perspective of the Schumpeter's minimalistic definition of democracy and analyzed more in depth using the qualitative concepts of democracy. The thesis includes a brief introduction to the problematic of the democracy definitions, the hybrid regimes theory and some undemocratic forms of government. On the basis of empirical observations the thesis characterizes the crucial democratic institutions and works with the qualitative analysis of their contemporary functioning. The End of Latin-American Socialism: Security Aspects of the Venezuelan Crisis

The diploma thesis deals with the relation between the socialism of the 21st century as an ideology (or revolutionary theory) and human security concept applied on case of Venezuela, with regards to the regional context of Latin America. First, it presents both theoretical terms in deeper contexts; in case of Latin-American socialism deals with theoretical background in the work of Heinz Dieterich, advisor of Hugo Chávez and compares to the perspective of Russian professor Alexander Buzgalin, it also deals with regional perspective of indigenous socialism. In case of concept of human security, the thesis offers an insight into its genesis in United Nations, gives voice to some critical approaches and presents models that are further used. Both theoretical terms are applied in the analytical chapters of the thesis on case of the Bolivarian Republic. In case of socialism, the author analyses its impact on the 1999 constitution and deals with implementation on the example of communal councils; in case of human security concept, she choses three models that are tested to evaluate the current situation in the country. Thesis PhDr. Radek Buben Deconsolidation of Venezuelan Democracy: Erosion of the Party System, Neo-Populism, and Repoliticization of the Armed Forces The thesis Deconsolidation of Venezuelan Democracy: Erosion of the Party System, Neo- Populism, and Repoliticization of the Armed Forces addresses the process of deconsolidation of democracy in Venezuela between 1973 and 1993. The analysis is based on both theoretical and comparative approach embedded notably in institutional comparative political science (analysis of systemic and institutional conditions of the analyzed process), historical sociology and political theory (phenomena of populism and neo-populism) and approaches of traditional historical analysis of political process in a particular period of time. The theoretical part of the text is focused on the issue of democracy in Latin America in general. More concretely, it concerns with typologies of political regimes, institutionalization of party systems, civil-military relations and the so-called resources curse theory.
